Symbolic New Year’s Mantel Vignette
Just wanted to pop in on New Year’s Eve and share the mantel vignette that I created today in our dining room.
I included several symbolic elements in this design, representing the hopes for my family and myself in the year ahead.
There is a stack of bibles in the center and old hymnals on either side, representing building our lives on the Word of God and praising him every day.
The clocks represent embracing every minute of our lives together…no matter what the time brings.
And the binoculars and opera glasses represent looking to what lies ahead…not staying focused on the hurt of the past.
The beautiful antique teacup reminds us to enjoy this present moment…after all, it is the only one we have.
I included a few things just for fun…the jingling bells to ring in the new year, and the little silver hat (my kids love that part).
I hope that you all have a very safe and happy New Year!
Here is to a fantastic 2014 ahead…
(the chalkboard in the playroom got a makeover again 😉
Linking up with…
Till next time…

Happy New Year Alice! I just adore the thought and purpose you put into this mantel, with such a beautiful vision for 2014. I've been popping in quickly over the past week or so to see all your holiday decor and have been AMAZED. You have such a knack for making your house a 'home' for your family – full of love, personalization and vintage flair. I will definitely be coming back to take it all in, time and time again. Hazel and Owen's room make me want to completely 'do over' my children's rooms! I just adore your attention to details. 🙂

Susan is spot on. Such a lovely vignette. The elements you used to express your vision are perfect. I've always admired the composition in your vignettes and room designs. That gorgeous frame completes it! Love it.

Alice,
You have such a gift for styling. Everything you put together has so much interest and charm. The strand of white poms layered over the silver tinsel is a great idea! I love the idea of a New Year's mantle and having each item remind you of some goals you have for you and your family. Most of all, I appreciate that God's word is the center of everything else.
Bonne Année to you and your family.

So beautiful, I just love it Alice! Your mantle looks awesome! The looking glasses are a great idea to look into the new year and the 2014 banner is fab! I shared mine too yesterday on my blog and I'd say we have a lot in common like the clocks, old books, bottle brush trees and garlands and the white mantle in general 🙂 Sending you and your sweet family very happy new wishes from Germany! Carola xoxo~
P.S. The December cup is so pretty!!!
