Kitchen Progress {Thus Far}

My husband has been hard at work transforming our kitchen. If you missed my first Before Post, go check that out to see what we started with. Here is the progress so far…

My husband lowered most of the cabinets (they were way too high and hard to reach). He left the ones above the microwave as is, and added trim underneath to frame it and have it line up with the lowered cupboards on either side. We decided to leave the corner one raised up and are going to come up with something creative to do underneath to make it work with the rest.

Josh has been deglossing, painting and sealing like crazy. He really is a saint coming home from long days, and keeping up with it.

Here he is hard at work! (Don’t tell him I showed you this…he’ll kill me! 😉

As I mentioned in the Before Post, we are using the Rust-Oleum Cabinet Transformation Kit in “Winter Fog” (gray).

We recently purchased the crown molding to add to the top, which will definitely move it up another notch.

Here is a section of the lower cabinets that is almost finished:

(None of these photos are spectacular – I had the lights on and was just snapping shots to make sure I got progress pics). We purchased all of the new hardware at Lowe’s and it has already transformed the space. We still have to paint the black underneath the cupboards. It will be the same color gray.

You can see in this photograph what a difference lowering the cabinets made:

That has made working in this kitchen a lot easier. I don’t always have to run for the step stool! (I’m only 5’1″, so I needed it often)

There is still a lot more work to do, but I am thrilled with how it is turning out. It is going to be quite the transformation!

Hope you will keep up with me by following along by email, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and/or Google+ (see sidebar). Now you can also follow me on Instagram! I just joined yesterday!

And don’t forget to link-up at Sundays at Home. The link-up stays open until Thursday at 4pm EST.

Till next time…
