Vintage Inspired Patriotic 4th of July Vignette {blog rewind}

Several years ago, I used to live in a townhouse with a large entry way. I loved changing out the decor season to season, and especially loved decorating it for holidays. In 2009, I shared a post on my Typepad blog with a vintage-inspired 4th of July vignette that I set up in this space and am “rewinding” to share it again here.

I filled this vignette with a variety of vintage and antique items, with hints of red and blue. I guess you could say, I tend towards more unconventional items to include in my holiday vignettes.

I love thread spools (as shown in my Valentine’s vignette from early this year), and included some in this one. Along with several other notions and buttons.

I had an old hymnal open to patriotic songs. A small apothecary jar was filled with layers of red, white and blue buttons.

This old tin type reminded me a bit of Betsy Ross, so I nestled it in some old white buttons, while the thirteen star flag was displayed in the center of the vignette.
A simple string of twine held other patriotic and vintage items.

I really miss having that little entry way space (since I don’t have one in this home). Guess we don’t really appreciate what we have until it’s gone.

Ah well…

I hope you enjoyed this little “blog rewind” and that my fellow Americans feel inspired for the upcoming 4th! Please consider following me by email and social media to stay up to date with all of my posts! (See info on my sidebar.)
