Creating Christmas Party: Rustic Christmas {Holiday Home Tour Part II}

I am so honored to be partcipating in Have a Daily Cup of Mrs. Olson’s ‘Creating Christmas’ link party this week! She asked me to share my “Rustic Christmas” home with you, and I can’t wait to welcome you inside to take the tour. And this is a party, so at the bottom, link up your own Rustic Christmas inspiration with us. I can’t wait to see what you have to share.

Yesterday, Lynn from Shabby Story shared her “White Christmas” home. Did you see it? If not run over there and check it out…it is gorgeous!

Today, I will be sharing the second part of my holiday home tour.  I have all new photos to share with you. I am pretty much the queen of “too many photos” so I hope you are ready…If you missed my first, which was part of Jennifer Rizzo’s 2014 Holiday Housewalk, you can check it out here or at the bottom of this post. There are tons of photos in that post too! I “chatted” a lot in that post, but I will try to keep it to a minimum today.

Our front porch is rustic with simple winter touches. You are greeted by some evergreen boughs tied up with a strip of buffalo plaid wool fabric.

In my opinion, you can never go wrong with old wood, tree stumps and bits of nature. I added a festive chalkboard message and a lighted tree.

Antlers, rusty bells and ice skates on the other side.

Now we will head into my “bohemian cabin” style living room. I have this dream of living in a rustic cabin in the woods…the inspiration for my holiday decorating this year.

It snows a lot here. I spy our shovels in the window…

The goal for my living room is always to make it cozy and inviting. I think everyone should have a soft pillow and warm blanket, within reach, in the winter months.

I made all of the pillows in the living room, except for the deer one, which is by Lucy of Craftberry Bush. You can find it in her shop (along with a ton of other cute ones). I also made the pouf ottoman which you can learn how to do here.

Our Christmas tree this year is from Balsam Hill, which you can read more about in my first Holiday Home Tour post. We have always had real trees, but I have longed for a flocked one forever and really love this one!

The tree is decorated in a “boho glam” style with vintage necklaces, fringe, gold and yellow sparkling ornaments, feathers, my twig arrows and my feather snowflakes. (Check out those posts to see how to make them yourself!)

I always like to put unconventional “ornaments” on my tree. This year I went with salvaged doorknob and keyhole plates.

I also made the tree topper from vintage sheet music. I really wanted this one from Pottery Barn, but it’s sold out, so I had to whip up my own instead.

I also made a pair of faux moose antlers to go above our television. I will try to share a tutorial about those in the new year. They just seemed like the “perfect” cabin style decor to go in that empty space.

Here is how cozy this room looks at night when we all cuddle together to watch Christmas movies…

After the living room, we head around the corner, into the dining room. One of my favorites this holiday season. I had a certain look in mind when I set out to decorate it and it ended up being exactly what I wanted. I wanted to add some eclectic glamour this year…like walking into an Anthropologie holiday catalog.

Faux fur and plaid are recurring themes throughout my home this season.

You can see more of my mantel in my first holiday home tour post and get my free printable Christmas village here.
We have another tree in the dining room that I decorated mainly for my kids, filled with a mix match of ornaments that they love and colored and white lights. I put it in a rustic bucket (another find from my mom!).

Just beyond the dining room is our kitchen, which is still a work in progress. We started painting the cupboards last year but have only finished one side. And we still want to add a tile backlash, open shelving in the corner, and new counter tops among other changes. In the meantime, I still added some Christmas touches to it.

I set up a vintage inspired hot chocolate station on our kitchen island, which is really just an old, shabby desk.

My mom, who is an antiques dealer and online shop owner, found this rustic old truck for me. I wanted one so badly for our Christmas home this year!

I filled an old blue mason jar with powdered hot chocolate and tied a tag around it that I made from my friend Danielle’s (of Finding Silver Pennies) “Cold Hands Warm Heart” free printable. It was the perfect touch with some red seam binding ribbon.

The last space I want to take you to is the playroom. It is actually situated right across from the living room. We have a huge chalkboard in there that I scored at a yard sale for $15. I added some Christmasy art to it (although it has been drawn over and erased by now ;).

I am going to try to share a separate post about the playroom soon with more detailed photos. You can see our new reindeer wall decals in this post. Our latest addition to the room.

Well there you have it! Hope I didn’t tire you out πŸ™‚ Tomorrow Cecilia from My Thrift Store Addiction will be sharing her “Thrifted Christmas” with all of us. I personally cannot wait…I am addicted to thrift stores myself and love how creative Cecilia is with her finds! You don’t want to miss it. And Jann herself always decorates so charmingly. She is up on Wednesday!

And be sure to continue throughout the week hopping to the other fabulous bloggers opening their homes to us. Each one will have a link party to coordinate with their theme!

Now it is your turn! Show us your Rustic Christmas inspiration…just link up below! The link up party will remain open until December 14th. And maybe in a few weeks I will share a round-up of my favorites!

Love seeing all the little details! Really love the style this year it's comfy, cozy, inviting, warm and so darn cute! That little truck was meant to be there, you do so much with it, very cute! I know the kids enjoy how you let them freely use and play with everything, that's pretty unique, you are a great mom. You know your grandma didn't let us kids touch a thing when everything was decorated! LOL Oh and thanks for the plug again, I get a lot of traffic from you!

    Love,
    Mom

Your home and decor are stunning! Your attention to detail is incredible. BTW I really love the "beehive" tea cups. Do you know the pattern? Curious as my daughter and I are 2 Bees in a Pod and really like beehive items πŸ™‚
