Creative Bookshelf Styling

You might recall last week, when I talked about my obsession with shelf styling? I cannot get enough inspiration for it. I am constantly swooning over images I find on Pinterest and blogs, especially being fond of everything Emily Henderson and Joanna Gains do. I love the mixture of eclectic, flea market and one of a kind finds mixed in with inspiring reads.

I have a round up today will several examples of shelf styling ideas from my own blogging friends as well as some from my very own home. I hope you enjoy these!

Rachel, of Shades of Blue Interiors, shared her beautifully styled bookshelf during her spring home tour. I love the neutrals with subtle pops of color. The simplicity keeps it modern and fresh.
These gorgeous hanging shelves are from Lucy of Craftberry Bush. Not only can you learn how to make them, but you will be inspired by her mixture of natural and vintage items. And being a collector of old cameras myself, I love how she worked those in. I don’t think I have a bookshelf in my house without a vintage camera on it.
And who doesn’t love themselves some Restoration Hardware? Or better yet, RH inspired DIY on the cheap! I love how Shannon, of AKA Design, made these industrial shelves that are both practical and appealing to the eye. It can be hard incorporating necessary technology into decor, but Shannon has done it masterfully here.
Jamie, of So Much Better With Age, has an amazing knack for simplicity and elegance in her design style. The way she has organized her bookshelves, keeps her living room feeling bright, airy and calm. A tranquil environment can truly sooth the mind and soul.
Being an eclectic girl at heart, this bookshelf from Jennifer, of City Farmhouse, makes my heart swoon. I love every unique detail and the mixture of rustic and modern. This is also a great example of adding family photographs in an appealing way.
In my own living room, I currently have a rustic white shelf filled with eclectic pieces as well as books for our whole family. My children’s books are stored on the bottom for easy access, while mine and my husband’s are mixed in with decorative accessories.
Previously, I had a smaller rustic shelf in the same space and shared how I had decorated it then with my kids in mind. I am always careful to display things, within their reach, that are not too precious as I know they will want to get their hands on them. I enjoy the challenge of styling a shelf that is both attractive, yet kid friendly.
Melissa of Shabby Love has always been a source of inspiration to me. Her combination of rustic and eclectic style speaks to my soul. I love this grouping of interesting curiosities. You can see the full shelf and more of her styling of it in the same post.
Danielle, of Finding Silver Pennies, lives in a gorgeous older home with these stunning built ins. I love how she incorporated books, vintage finds and bits of natures.
The same is true for Jennifer, of Town and Country Living. A creative arrangement of books, nature and interesting finds makes this small bookshelf charming and functional.
Several years ago, my husband and I found an old door on the side of the road that he then turned into a corner shelf. We had it in the living room for a long time, and I always enjoyed displaying our collections on it such as our old cameras, art books, and glass bottles.
Later on, I gave the bookshelf a small makeover by adding a dark burlap lining to the back. It added texture and depth the the piece and fit perfectly with my (then) rustic, farmhouse style.
Do you love styling shelves? What are your favorite things to display on them? Would love to hear in a comment below!
