New Rug for the Bedroom {sneak peek}

Today, I am so excited to give you a sneak peek of the new rug I recently purchased for our in-the-works bedroom makeover! I will actually be on a little getaway to Lake Placid when this post goes live, but I wanted to get it ready to show you before I left. Because I am seriously that in love with it. No joke. If you follow me on Instagram you may have already seen it, but if not, here it is…drum roll…

Finding affordable and awesome rugs can be tricky. I see so many rugs that I would love to own, but they are often way out of our budget. Even the vintage ones with wear and tear. I saw one recently at an antique store that had seen better days and it was still $175. A smaller one in better condition was $250. {Insert my sad face here as I walked away empty handed}.

Then I decided to come home and look online (for the millioneth time). I had seen several by Urban Outfitters on Pinterest that caught my eye, but I never really looked at the prices. Imagine my surprise when this one was only $89 for a 5×7! Free shipping too! I was in heaven. Into the “shopping cart” it went and a week later it was in my bedroom.

This particular rug is the Magical Thinking Tahoe Geo Printed Rug, which comes in sizes 3×5, 5×7, and 8×10. Even the 8×10 is under $200! Insanity.

This is a very low pile, cotton rug, so not one that has a lot of cushion to it, but if you put a rug pad underneath that could help. Since I plan on using it under the end of my bed, I wasn’t concerned about that. Just wanted something pretty on the floor, with a pattern that spoke to me, and this was the winner.

It’s hard to believe there could actually be cool rugs that are that inexpensive. Seems like an oxymoron, really. If I am not more careful, I could probably have a different one in every room.

Here is a collection of some other rugs by Urban Outfitter’s that caught my eye…

!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; p = ‘//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js’; var cb = new Date().getTime(); p += ‘?cb=’ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‘object’){ if(doc.readyState === ‘complete’){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ‘script’, ‘shopsensewidget-script’);

Mind you, though, they do have some AMAZING vintage rugs that are a lot more pricey, because they are one of a kind. I probably won’t be adding any of those to my cart anytime soon, but a girl can dream, right? Check these out…(click the arrow to see all of my favorites).

In a few of my photos in this post you can also see my little braided money tree. It’s growing strong since my husband gave it to me for Valentine’s Day! Somehow my black thumb has started to turn green in the past several months.

So that’s my new rug! I can’t wait to finally start working on making a bohemian bedroom oasis for my husband and me. We have neglected it for a long time. It’s long overdue.

Till next time…

    Ok Alice you have found the perfect area rug in my eyes…. I too love that two tone look of a modern country feel with a twist of boho when using a navaho style geometric style rug. I also love the fact that the rug under your sofa flows right into your bedroom with the same beautiful mix.

    Of course I fell I. Love with the one over $2,000. and will have to nix that one… You know where I am headed? I need to check out some rugs and I took have been looking for a time for that right fit.

    Can't wait to see what you do in the kids rooms, or other spaces…. Love your white painted floors.

    Xx
