Natural Bohemian Fall Mantel

Last week, I showed my most recent mantel vignette in the second part of my fall home tour. Today, I am showing you more details of how I decorated it for fall this year. It has some similarities to last year’s…natural with vintage finds, but this time around with more bohemian style thrown in.

I started with the large baskets, both found at the same thrift store at different times. I’d love a large basket collection on the wall someday.

Brass, copper tones, and muted shades of peachy pink are what I am loving right now, so I brought those in with the pottery, candlesticks and glass candle holder, and then added some natural touches.

I used squash in last year’s fall mantel as well. I love the shape…each one is a work of art. They are like nature’s pottery. I also added some potted succulents, a small white pumpkin and a tiny dried leaf.
I found a dated glass light light fixture at the same thrift store and immediately knew I wanted to repurpose it. I got rid of the base, flipped it over and turned it into an eclectic cloche/plant terrarium. I love when I get a vision for something like that, even though I know the ladies at the thrift store probably thought I was crazy taking it home!
I grabbed some branches from a tree in our back yard, which added more nature and added impact to the overall vignette.
Finally, a medallion style scarf that I found at still the same thrift store (it’s a tiny one in the basement of a church building in my home town!), was a perfect fit for inside the mantel to give it a more finished look. I never like when it’s empty.

I am such a rearranger, that I have already tweaked this design a bit. I will probably show you the updated version soon if there is time. This sure becomes a busy time of year!

Come back this weekend to link up at our Sundays at Home link party and share your own recent posts. Party starts at 8pm EST Saturday night and you can link up with myself or my co-host Susan from Love of Home. I will be busy the next couple of days preparing for and celebrating my little man Owen’s 3rd birthday on the 26th. He has requested a Monsters, Inc. party for almost a year now…can’t wait for him to have his big day!
