Fall is is pretty much here in my book (except for the extremely hot weather we are experiencing right now in Western New York), so, for me, it’s time to start bringing the warmth and beauty of autumn all throughout my home. Today, I am excited to usher in fall with several other talented bloggers as we share decorating vignettes, along with free printables, for you to enjoy all season long!
I love, love, love this time of year. I really can’t say it enough. So much beauty to behold and comforts that bring me back to the best memories of childhood: jumping in leaves, going to pick out pumpkins, selecting a Halloween costume, good food, family get-togethers, the scent in the air. There is pretty much nothing that I don’t love about fall expect maybe that it is too short. It always seems to go by in a flash. Oh if I could just hold onto it for a bit longer.
I kept this printable fairly simple with a photograph I took of feathers and the simple words, “Oh, hello fall.” A subtle way of welcoming in the season while fitting in with my rustic bohemian decor.
Originally, I had very different plans for this printable. I made it in the shape of a square with a white border, going for a look like you might find from Urban Outfitters wall art section.
I had hoped to print it off on watercolor paper and simply tape it to the wall in an eclectic boho vignette. You know it was going to be cool and modern and different…yada yada yada…but sometimes plans don’t work out.
My printer stopped working properly right when I needed this done and my only option was to have my husband print it for me at work. Enter plan b with a new idea and improvising. His printer wouldn’t take the thick paper I intended to use. Sadness.
Instead, I found a rustic, wooden frame in my basement, slipped the printable inside (literally just on copy paper!) and decided to do a small neutral and natural vignette on the mantel. I recently gave my mantel a fresh coat of white paint and love the crisp, clean look as opposed to the distressed look it had previously.
This vignette was simple to put together. I started with an antique gold mirror and propped the frame, off-center, in front. Then added a group of three amber glass bottles, one with a simple bouquet in it.
On the opposite side, I added a basket, a little owl, and one of my faux fur pumpkins from last year (
full tutorial here). The middle is filled with several items found in nature: a piece of driftwood, dried pumpkin stems, an antler and a pinecone.
Even though my original (and in my mind “awesome” idea) had to change, it all worked out and I really enjoyed putting together this neutral, rustic fall vignette. I hope it inspires you for your own decorating…we don’t really need anything fancy to create a pretty display for fall. Switch some items up around your home, gather a bit of nature, and throw in a free printable. Done.
Here is a preview of the printable as I originally intended for it to look…
If you would like to download this one, it measures 11″x11″ which includes a half inch white boarder.
But if you would like to have it as it’s shown in this vignette, I am including a 5×7 for you as well, with no border.
Please note: This printable is offered free for PERSONAL USE ONLY. No reselling of any kind. Thanks for respecting the time and energy that goes into these!
