I am currently loving all things mid century in home decor. Years ago, I would have said heck no to this style, but now I can’t get enough. When we moved my grandparents HiFi record console into our living room, it added the exact vibe I was craving. Today, I am sharing some of my favorite mid-century inspired sideboards, buffets and consoles that I am crushing on.
I would love to add a mid century style buffet or sideboard to our dining room…if only space would allow. I love browsing Pinterest to see how others have styled them, which makes me long to have another one even more. The one that we have is very low, so my children often play with everything on it…which means I really don’t have free reign, just yet, in how I decorate it.
I love all eight of these pieces and would love to have a chance to style them up! The prices of modern sideboards and consoles in mid century style, vary considerably, with the ones here starting at $799 going to just over $2700.

If “new” just isn’t your thing or you can’t get behind the high ticket price of these, vintage ones can often be found at thrift stores, flea markets, Craigslist, etc. to get an authentic, and possibly more affordable piece. Since mid-century style has been pretty hot for awhile, the prices may be higher at antique shops and sites like eBay, Chairish, etc. that are known to offer vintage decor.
I love knowing the history of ours and the fact that my grandparents bought it brand new. The hours they spent listening to their favorite records on it, many of which we now have in our procession, is precious to me. It makes it even more meaningful to have this piece in our home.
Here is a glimpse of how I styled it last fall…
Just recently, I have been making a lot of changes to our living room and rearranging everything (more on that in the coming weeks)…but here is a little sneak peek of how the record console is currently looking on the opposite side of the room…
What are your thoughts on mid-century style? Are you loving it like I am, or is it a ‘heck no’ to you like it once was to me? I’d love to hear in a comment below and tell me which one of the eight is your favorite! I can’t even decide…I like them all for different reasons!

I so know what you mean, Alice. Never in a million years would I have thought I'd transition so hard from French country to the whole mcm, boho vibe. But as I allow myself to actually follow what I love, my formative years growing up in the 60's is making a stand, and I'm more and more okay with that. (And I also love your vintage console. Lucky girl!)

Love it! I wish I had my parents "HiFi" from the 60's. Even tho I really don't have room for it, I would like to refinish and repurpose it. They had a really good quality one and my dad wired the whole house for sound. It was pretty cool for the 60's.

I'm absolutely crazy about mid-century furniture! I was on the lookout for a console like that some time ago, but couldn't find it. I've changed my decorating plans since then, but boy, this one is a gem! Obviously pinning 🙂
