Eclectic Bohemian Bedroom Reveal
My bedroom makeover is finally complete! I am excited to share a lot of photos and details about our space with you today and hope you enjoy the tour. It is on the small side since we switched from the master, but I am really happy with how it came out. It truly is like a dream waking up every day in this “new to us” room.
Last month, I talked about making the switch from the master to the smaller room so that Hazel and Owen could have a larger space. They have been sharing this small room since Owen was about a year old. It was getting really cramped with cribs, a dresser, stuffed animals, toys, etc. I had been wanting to switch our rooms for a long time, but it took awhile to get ourselves motivated to do it since a lot of decluttering had to happen first to make the transition easier.
Since this room was almost always overtaken with toys when the kids were in here, I don’t have any good “before” shots. But you can get an idea of how it was set up in this post from Christmas 2013 and when we first made it into Hazel’s nursery in 2011.
And now for what it looks like today! Pretty different!
I was immediately smitten by the Angelo Queen Headboard from Raymour and Flanigan the first time I saw it on their site. When we decided to go ahead with a full bedroom makeover it was on the top of my list (right after a new mattress which we were in desperate need of). We went with a Sealy Posturepedic Hybrid Silver Plush Mattress for that and I love it.
We also decided to get matching nightstands and lamps which we have never had in our almost ten years of marriage. The Portland Nightstands from Raymour & Flanigan have been awesome for adding extra storage and I love the retro, mid century element they add to the room. The Honeycomb Dreams Table Lamp stood out to me as soon as I saw it, and I knew it would be the perfect fit for the room.
I purchased a new chenille bedspread (in a king size so it would drape to the floor), and some throw pillows on Amazon to update our bedding. The rug was bought from Urban outfitters last summer.
I bought a new mirror from target, but everything else on the dresser is vintage finds.
In the corner, I put a vintage rattan chair next to the Ceramic Calla Stool from Raymour and Flanigan. It works as a great little side table and balances well with the lamps on the opposite side. This is the perfect little spot to sit and look out the window, read a book, or watch the kids jump on the bed (true story).
My overall goal with the room was to make it comfortable, serene, and a bit on the minimalist side. I’m really happy with how it came together and literally love jumping in bed at night to read a book and enjoy the “view” of my new space.
I hope you enjoyed the tour of our new bedroom. Next on my list is transforming the master bedroom into a separate boy and girl space for Hazel and Owen and making it fun and personal for each of them. Plus get those toys organized! Maybe.

Your new bedroom is such a pretty perfect reflection of your style, Alice! I love the all white with wood tones to warm it up. We gave up the larger bedroom to our girls in our previous home and moved into the much smaller bedroom and it worked out well. Great transformation!

This looks great! Beautiful space, Alice! What wood color are the shades? I'm looking at natural or sand tones and it looks like that's what you have.

I love it! I am just about finished with our bedroom refresh and could relate to a lot of this. I also feel like we have never had a grown up bedroom. I hope when I pull the final pieces together I'm as happy with it as you are with yours.

Oh my god, becky, look at those nightstands. Ha. Really though. Those are beautiful! We have nearly identical layouts except your space seems a tad wider than mine. I've got my vanity squeezed in one side of the bed and a handed down table on the other. Would love grown up bedside tables one day!
