Fall Front Porch Decor
For fall decorating this year, I didn’t have to go too far or spend too much money to make it fresh and inviting. I bought the white pumpkins and yellow mums at our local grocery store (Wegman’s – which is now only five minutes away compared to 25 from our old place! That makes life easier!) and the green jarrahdale’s at a local farmer’s market. The planters were already here when we moved in and I bought the gold lanterns for fall last year.
I had a couple of impulse buys this year with the ceramic jack O’lanterns and wreath on the front door. The little jack o’lanterns were only about $5.99 each and are a great way to add Halloween décor without being too spooky or creepy…something I am definitely not into. I always struggle with Halloween décor as it’s not my thing, but the kids enjoy it.
When we first came to look at this house I really loved the pink front door. Now, that we have been here awhile, I am starting to have the desire to change it. Maybe a pale green/mint shade similar to the jarrahdale pumpkins? I think that might pair better with the brick as the pink seems to just blend in with it.
Fall is off to a hot start in our neck of the woods. It’s been record breaking heat here! Ugh. I can’t wait for more fall like weather to come our way, so we can enjoy more time outdoors. Lately it has been scorching, so we have been relaxing in the central air…another perk of our new home. But, I will be excited when it is cool enough to keep it off and smell the crisp fall air.
In family news, Owen turned five yesterday! I got to read a book to his class and enjoy lunch with him. We had a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle party for him over the weekend which was lots of fun. He had friends over from both his old and new schools.
I am working on getting Hazel and Owen’s rooms decorated for them to really enjoy and feel like they are their own. I am looking forward to sharing those spaces with you next month.
Violet learned how to crawl over the weekend and is bringing us all so much joy every day. She really lights up our life and makes us all happy. Life is really good these days and I am finally starting to feel like the new place is home.

That door is a really pretty color but I can see what you mean about it blending in. We have a brick home and a blue/mint door and the contrast is refreshing. It's good to see Violet so happy and healthy!
