Dollhouse Kitchen Hutch Makeover

Hi Friends! I hope you had a great weekend! We are having a busy summer here, but I found some time to photograph more miniatures to share with you this week. Today, I am going to show you a simple makeover that I gave to our dollhouse’s vintage kitchen hutch. I can’t remember for sure how we came about this cute little wooden cabinet, but I think it may have been one of the pieces of furniture that came with our garage sale dollhouse.

Decorated White Dollhouse Hutch with Accessories

The first time, I shared this hutch on my blog, was in my dollhouse kitchen reveal post.

Here is the BEFORE photo of how it looked when we got it:

dark brown wood dollhouse hutchI decided to paint it white and jazz it up a bit with some scrapbook paper lining the back. I began by removing all of the knobs – they were just large pins, so they were easily removed and put back in. Then painted with a leftover sample paint we had around the house.

I adhered the scrapbook paper with Mod Podge. And that was it!

Here is the AFTER:

Miniature Porcelain Blue and White Cat in DollhouseI’ve had that little porcelain cat since I was my daughter Hazel’s age! It’s fun to still have a lot of the dollhouse items from my childhood to share with my own kids.

Just an FYI: This little set up was not done in our actual dollhouse, but on a rustic shelf with a sheet of this awesome scrapbook paper in the background. It will definitely make beautiful wallpaper in on of my dollhouses in the future!

Hope you enjoyed this mini makeover! Please consider sharing on social media if so! Have a great week~

Till next time…

Hi. This is a lovely hutch! Beautiful makeover. I also just read your February “Christmas in the Dollhouse.” What a delightful home tour. I love how you use Anthro prints for so many things. The living room with the Sherpa rug and the sleeping dog looks so restful. And I would love some of those fireplace mantel angel statues sized for my own living room. Gorgeous! The horse and the girl add such a romantic touch through the door and window. And in the upstairs bedroom…the china doll. A friend of mine had one just like that when we were growing up. So festive, all in all, and looks like loads of imaginative, creative fun.
