Antique Dollhouse Living Room & Dining Room

I’m back today with another antique dollhouse room tour! If you missed it, I shared a brief tour of the whole house here and explained about how we acquired this amazing heirloom dollhouse from a raffle prize. A few weeks ago, I also shared a full tour of the farmhouse style kitchen. Today, we are going to check out the living room and dining room combo and all the fun vintage details.

Antique Dollhouse Living RoomThis dollhouse was handmade by a girl’s father in the 1930’s and she kept it her whole life until she donated for a raffle prize at a dollhouse show in our area. My kids and I were the blessed winners and have been having so much fun setting up this sweet house.

All of the furniture pieces seem to have been made very sturdy and not so delicate so it was likely intended to be played with and not just for looks. A lot of attention to detail went into this house! We haven’t done anything to update or improve it yet, and my plan is to keep any updating original to the style and period of the house. For now, we just have fun setting up the furniture and accessories.

The dining room set doesn’t fit in the kitchen well, so I assume that maybe it was typically put in this room. My favorite part of this room is the old piano that is also a music box! I also love the fabric covered chair.

I am assuming the same floral fabric as the chair.

The dining room set is painted black with birds on them, with the exception of one that has the same floral fabric. There is even an adorable high chair!Antique Dollhouse Living Room & Dining RoomAntique Dollhouse Dining Room ChairsVintage Dollhouse Black High ChairI added my own vintage silver tea set to the table and a birdcage to the piano. Everything else came with the house. There were a ton of beautiful little rugs, so I put a couple in here.Antique Dollhouse Living Room Arched DoorwayThe living room has an arched doorway that leads to the stair hall/entryway. I will share more from that room, the bathroom and bedrooms soon!

Till next time…Happy November!

I thought the story of how you won this precious heirloom was so fun. Such a great collection and love all the details. Special is the fact it can be played with…! I have an entire room full of dolls and dioramas and nothing is off limits to my granddaughter. This is so much fun, looking forward to more posts!
