A Vintage Rug for the Kitchen

I have partnered with SF Rugs for this post. All expressed opinions are 100% my own. Full disclosure.

I have been wanting a vintage rug in our kitchen for a long while and now I finally have one! Our kitchen renovation has been a very slowwww process to say the least, but we are still plugging away at it. Maybe it will be completely done by the time we put this place up for sale? Let’s hope…

We started by painting our wooden cabinets light gray and adding hardware. It did make a huge difference to the look in here. Click here if you missed the BEFORE post.

When we started this redo back in 2014 I was going for farmhouse style, but eventually wanted more of a bohemian, eclectic vibe. I’ve tried to achieve this in subtle ways by adding cacti and plants, copper pieces and now this beautiful vintage rug that I found from SF Rugs online shop.

It was the perfect size for the space and I’ve been wanting a dark pink or burgundy rug to go with the gray cabinets. I love how this one looks with them! It is a vintage rug, so does have some wear, but that is what I was on the hunt for. After all, it will be in the kitchen where it will get a lot more wear and tear.
This rug really brings in the perfect boho vibe just as I had hoped it would. There are still a few more things I would like to do to this kitchen to really consider it complete, but for now, I am pretty happy with the progress thus far. My husband finished up the corner cabinets (now we just need to finish up the ones on the left hand side that I never share here. They are about half way done!).
We also need to finish painting the walls. I don’t know why we stopped half way through…life I guess. Sigh. And I found a cute freestanding island on wheels on the side of the road that I am excited to give a makeover to. I plan on painting it slate blue or black and will share that when it is complete.
For now, I try to enjoy this less than perfect kitchen “as is”. Recently I added a few fall touches in here to welcome the season, along with a few more plants and some vintage decor.
