• DIY Hand Drawn Valentine’s Notes

Over the weekend, I showed the Valentine’s vignette I set up on our vintage buffet in the dining room. One of the elements of the vignette, were some simple hand drawn Valentine notes that I made. I had a lot of fun making these and wanted to share them with you today! I started by purchasing some red and pink paper doilies from the Dollar Tree. I didn’t have a set plan for them at the time, but knew they would come in handy for…

  • DIY Countdown to Valentine’s Day

For the past few years, I have made an advent calendar for my children for Christmas. Each year, it has been a little bit different than the one before. They love it so much, that this year, I decided to do one for Valentine’s Day as well. I know I am a bit late in getting this post out there, but I wanted to share it with you anyways in case it might spark some last minute inspiration! This post contains some affiliate links. I may receive a small commission for any sales made through them.  For this project, I decided to make handmade paper ornaments to celebrate the holiday…

  • DIY Thanksgiving Feather Garland

Are feathers still in? I don’t even know, but I will tell you…I still like them. This kind of decoration may be so three years ago, but I decided it was the perfect thing for our Thanksgiving mantel this year. It seems trends come and go so quickly these days, who could keep up with them all? Is social media to blame? Too much Pinterest, Facebook and Instragram in our faces, that nothing has time to linger?Ahh well. Such is the world these days, I suppose? That is why I have been making a pointed effort recently, to just do what I love and stop fretting over what’s still in…

  • Mini Halloween Pumpkin Face Family

This post contains affiliate links. I may receive a small commission for any sales made through them, but the cost to you does not change. Full disclosure. During my fall home tour, I gave a glimpse of our little “pumpkin family” on the windowsill. Eventually, I knew they would get some faces and now they finally have. I have done this for the past couple of years, and the kids love it. It’s a fun fall family tradition now. You really don’t need crazy artistic skills for this…just a fine point black Sharpie marker (and red or pink if you want to add some rosy cheeks like I did).  We have all…

  • Cobwebs & Crows Halloween Chandelier

This post contains affiliate links. I may receive a small commission for any sales made through them but the cost to you does not change. Full disclosure. I’m still in Halloween mode here! Less than a week away now. I’ve already shown you our Halloween mantel, my vintage buffet vignette and dining room table. Today, I am focusing on how I did up our chandelier in the dining room with cobwebs and crows. I decided to go for a derelict old house vibe in here with what looked like years worth of old cobwebs covering the surfaces. I started by taking layers of cheeseboth and draping them from light to light. This was…

  • when you don’t have a green thumb

I have never had much of a green thumb. I try. and try. and try. But alas, so many plants have met their unfortunate end in my care. Since moving to our new home, I now only have three living plants in the house. All of the rest never made it. Even my fiddle leaf fig that I kept going for almost two years. That was the hardest one to part with. The one that made me believe my black thumb might actually have a hint of green. Wishful thinking. I still really like to have greenery in my décor though, so I was delighted when on a Target run…
