Simple Fall Mantel: Minimalist & Natural

This year, I decided to go fairly simple with my fall mantel decor. The walls and salvaged mantel are both white, so I wanted to bring in a bit of deep seasonal colors and natural elements to welcome autumn into our dining room.

I shared a glimpse of it in my recent Fall Home Tour. Today, I am sharing more details of how I brought it all together.

It began with a woven basket, found at a thrift store, and a pair of brass candlesticks. I was really feeling simple, symmetrical and natural, with subtle hues of autumn like deep red, pale orange and brown.

I had a couple of these artificial Autumn Berry Picks that I purchased last year. I slid one in on either side of the basket, but knew that it needed more to feel complete.
I decided to add some pheasant feathers that I was given by my uncle. I have been saving them for fall decorating and love how they look draping either side of the mantel.
To fill in the center, I off set a couple of small white pumpkins and dried gourds. And finally, finished it off by filling around all of the elements with real crab apples that my kids and I collected from our backyard. They blended in perfectly with the faux ones to the point you can’t even tell anymore that there are faux hidden in there!
My overall goal was to keep it minimalist and natural in style so there wasn’t too much competition between the mantel and the new light fixture. I love having a modern, geometric piece in here! It changed the entire vibe of the room as did the bentwood chairs. I talked more about both of those in this post and my fall home tour post.
I am enjoying the simplicity of this room so much these days. The warm wood and deep earth tones keep it cozy and inviting, while the white backdrop and clean simple lines create the minimalist look and feel I was craving.

I hope you enjoyed your visit today! I am always humbled that this little blog of mine has regulars as well as daily newcomers. Thank you for that!

Recently, I changed the comment format to Google+, but didn’t realize it would prohibit those who aren’t on their from commenting. I attempted to revert it back, but found that I would sadly lose all comments on the last several post. Also the increase in spam comments that I was receiving previously was starting to make me crazy! Hopefully this change will not be an inconvenience to too many of you. My deepest apologies if it is! I do love hearing your thoughts 🙂

Till next time…
