38 Weeks and Counting

I have partnered with Burke Decor for this post. All expressed opinions are 100% my own. Full disclosure.

On Sunday, I hit the 38 week mark in this pregnancy. This baby seems pretty content to just stay where she is. My first baby, Hazel, was born premature at 31 weeks and Owen was born at exactly 38. It looks like I might get to know what the 39th and 40th weeks of pregnancy are like with this one…maybe even beyond?

I am definitely nesting these days and spending as much time and energy as possible (which is fading fast) getting things ready around here for our baby girl.

I am anxious to meet her, but I am also striving to enjoy each day when she is safely snuggled inside, and life is a little bit simpler. It’s been four years since we’ve had a newborn in the house. I hope I can remember everything…

As I’ve mentioned in the past couple of weeks, I am working on a little “boho baby corner” in our bedroom. Since we live in a two bedroom home (and switched from the master to the smaller of the rooms), we don’t have a ton of space, so I am doing my best to make it work.

I shared the bassinet that I found on Craigslist a few weeks ago, and since then, I have successfully made a mattress for it, and one sheet. I still need to make a couple extras, but I was definitely giving myself a pat on the back for getting that much done.

Between caring for of a 4 and 5 year old and taking multiple naps during the day, I am running on low. Even small accomplishments feel huge! I hope to share a tutorial for the mattress as time allows in the next few months.

I picked a couple of soft cotton fabrics from Jo-Ann’s to make the sheets. The finished one is a woodland pattern with owls, bears, squirrels and bees. Hazel and Owen love it.

When I was looking at nursery items available from Burke Decor, I came across the cutest little Ferm Living Billy Bear Mobile (in rose) that I knew would be a perfect fit. It plays lullaby music when you pull the string…not too loud or obnoxious at all, like others I have seen or owned in the past. Thank goodness!

I already have plans in the works to make a one-of-a- mobile to hang above the bassinet, so I decided to hang this little bear from the side. That way the kids can reach to pull it for the baby.
Hazel can’t wait to help me do everything for our new little one. She even volunteered to feed her at night so I could sleep, but I did reassured her I would have that covered.
This little babe has no idea how loved she already is…

Even though we won’t be using a baby blanket in the bassinet for sleeping (we use sleep sacks or swaddle blankets), I wanted a fun blanket that we could lay the baby on for play time, snuggling during the day…and ya know…the occasional Instagram photo.

I absolutely fell in love with Ferm Living’s Cone Quilted Blanket in Rose. It’s so soft, and I love the modern geometric pattern. The colors are right up my alley.

I have a few more things I need to get done in this space to really feel ready, like adding a night time changing station on my dresser and getting her clothes, diapers, etc. organized. I ordered these baskets to keep the boho vibe in my bedroom while providing extra storage for baby items. I am looking forward to seeing it all come together.

Now, it is basically just waiting time to see when Baby Girl makes her appearance. And if you are wondering, she does not yet have a name. My husband and I each have our own picks, but we are waiting till she arrives to make the final decision. I can’t wait share the news with you then!

Till next time…
