Boo! I’m baaaaaccckkkkk….

It’s been ages since you have seen a post from me….almost a whole year! Life has certainly changed and hasn’t been easy, but I am finding my way on my own and learning to enjoy life again (as best I can as a single mom of four kiddos). I have been trying my best to make life as “normal” and good for the kids as possible and recently went all out decorating for Halloween for them. It is always a thrill to see the smiles on their faces and watch the younger ones light up with delight!

Today, I am showing how I did up our vintage style bookshelf in the living room. Didn’t purchase anything new for this. Used the same old decorations I have had for years, just in slightly different ways.

This shelf has been really useful in the living room for storing a lot of our books…we are book hoarders! I always like displaying seasonal ones for the little kids.

Then some inexpensive cheese cloth fabric to give a “spooky old haunted house” vibe…

I love our little collection of yoga skeleton figures. I scored two at Goodwill for dirt cheap and then found a matching one at Wegmans last fall.

And it wouldn’t be one of my vignettes without old books! They always find their way into my decorating. I can’t help myself. For this display, I propped up two of my favorite antique school books…one arithmetic and one spelling. The cover designs are beautiful….truly like works of art to me.

Added in some black crows and more vintage finds including an antique Kodak camera and little owl figure.

Antique Arithmetic Book and Black Crow

For some reason, this skull spoke to me when I was shopping at Target last fall and I had to have it 😂

Finished with a couple of other “spooky” touches and voila! We are ready for Halloween here!

I hope you enjoyed this post and hearing from me again! I’d love to hear from you and hope to be back here blogging more in the future as life continues to settle for us. Happy October!

Till next time…
