A Trip to the Country…in Vintage…

First of all…I want to thank each and every one of you who participated in my giveaway. All of the comments overwhelmed me…and I am so grateful for all of the purchases made from my shop as well. And now, we do have the winners!

The first name drawn for the main prize was Kristen of Sweet Dreams & a Bit of Creativity. Congrats to Kris, and I hope you enjoy the gifts!

The second name drawn for the smaller prize was Michelle of Vintage Grace. Hope you enjoy the little paper posy and gift certificate!

And now I thought we would go on a little trip to the country…to a place I go often and lived during my teenage years…my mother’s house. And I thought for fun…we would do it in vintage. I like to go down there from time to time to take photos…set up product shots…and hang out with ma mère.

Renoir enjoys it too, because he can run to his heart’s content and hang out with his uncle {Hercules…a large black Lab} and his cousin {Hercules’ sidekick…Charlie the Chihuahua…although he is not a big fan of Renoir…but Renoir tries to befriend him none the less}.

There is a dilapidated old barn in the backyard filled with interesting things…

Since it is quite old…and possibly filled with little creatures…I don’t go in too often…but on this trip…we shall go in and see what we can find. Would you venture up these stairs?

Someone else did…unbeknownst to me…

Now to figure out how to coax him down…any ideas? {…in reality it took about 20 minutes…}

some interesting old finds…

Well, that’s enough for me in here…the rickety old wood is making me nervous…and did you hear that twitching? Perhaps a country mouse…let’s venture elsewhere…

Look how pretty this vintage apron looks against the old barn wood…{a preview of some new shop goods}

Pinkapron

an old rustic egg basket…

In the distance we can see an old farm…this was the view out of my bedroom window when I lived here…

and one of my favorite spots…a chippy old door on the side of the garage…

Now, I think we will pop inside and get some glimpses of one of my favorite rooms to photograph in. One day, this small bedroom will be converted to my mom’s office…but for now…it is covered in layers of old wallpaper…and has the loveliest green door and trim work.

Even though I know it is “necessary”…my artistic heart will be sad to see the wallpaper go…but thankfully, I have been promised some of the remnants…

See how pretty my latest earrings look dangling here?

Well, our time here is about up…my mom has packed us up with some Amish friendship bread…Renoir has finally come down and wants to head home {Charlie is starting to get on his nerves}. I hope you enjoyed our vintage trip to the country!

Till next time…

    Congrats to Kristen and Michelle, what fortunate ladies.
    Love the field trip in “Vintage”. Looks like an Anthropology shoot (know I’ve said that before, but so true). That little Renoir looks so proud of himself he made his way up those stairs. I’d be with you, afraid of creatures. The mice don’t scare me a bit, but spiders a whole other story. What a brave Renoir. The earrings are gorgeous and so glad to hear you’ll be getting remnants of that vintage wallpaper.

    What a wonderful place to grow up. I grew up in the country as well although we didn’t have an old chippy barn as quaint as your moms. I always wondered where you took some of your shop photos – now I know. 🙂 Thanks for the peaceful trip to the country.

    Thanks so much Alice! I really love the photos and remind me much of growing up in Canajoharie. Sigh—I hope to visit with my little one this year. She hasn’t met many of her cousins since I live in the South now.
    Have a great week,

    First of all congratulations to the winners! and I so enjoyed your pictures. I’m at home in old houses and barns. The older and creakier the better. REALLY nice pictures.
