Bonne Fête des Mères

Pink Hydrangeas

Mothers are beautiful and life would never be so sweet without them. I know mine wouldn’t.

I love spending time with my mother. Her presence alone is comforting and feels like home.

How will you celebrate your mother today?

Mother's Day Tea

Perhaps a tea or brunch….a card in the mail…a bouquet of flowers {or if you’re me….a potted hydrangea plant in a deep shade of pink…her favorite color}…

Or, if your mother is no longer with you…reflections on her life and how she touched yours…

My Beautiful Mother

Above is my favorite photograph of my beautiful mother and me. I hope one day, when I become a mother, to impart the wisdom that she has bestowed upon me throughout my life…

Love unconditionally.

Don’t judge others.

Use your imagination and you never know what you can create.

Good things will come, even if it takes awhile.

Believe in yourself.

The simplest of pleasures can bring the greatest joy.

Laugh.

Remember what is important – people, relationships, faith, hope and love…

Greetings to Mother

{the button above is my mother and me in 1982}

So today I wish all of the mothers, grandmothers, and motherly caregivers out there, a beautiful day filled with love, relaxation and pure bliss in the knowledge that you have changed the world.

Being a mother enables one to influence the future.  ~Jane Sellman

Till next time…

What a beautiful post, Alice. Have a fantastic time with your mom tomorrow. I bet she feels comfort from your company just as you do from hers too. The photos of the two of you together are very lovely. As a friend, I will say your mother has raised a lovely, thoughtful daughter. Now Renoir, you be very thoughtful of your mére.

Alice, my beautiful daughter!!! How is it you always bring tears to my eyes and warmth to my heart. Reading your blog page today made me feel like I just had the biggest hug!
Being a mother to you and your sister has been the most important thing in my life. You girls are first above anything or anyone. I thank God for you both.
Yet I don’t know why I was so lucky to be blessed with two perfect children, I certainly wasn’t deserving. And I don’t just say perfect for your readers, you girls were perfect children. Both excellent students, college graduates, Angela was just inducted into the honor society Friday (Sigma Beta Delta) and graduates next weekend, Alice graduated Magna Cum Laude, how great is that?
These girls didn’t drink, smoke or do drugs, both always dressed very well, were neat and clean, thoughtful and generous to others and both have big hearts. Perfect is the only word that does describe them!
Maybe God knew I couldn’t handle any problems like I gave my own mother and it makes me appreciate HER even more because of it.
I’m going to put a post on my blog right now and i’m including the SKETCH THAT YOU DREW OF THE PICTURE OF US ABOVE AT THE CN TOWER…….everyone will see the amazing talent you and my mother shared (wonderful artists)! Skipped me somehow. Not all things can be passed from mother to daughter, but one thing sure did in our family……….. LOVE AND LOTS OF IT!!!
I love you with all my heart, honey, thank you!
    Love,
    Mom

    Hi Alice,
What a beautiful tribute to your mother! I put one on my blog about my mother too and my dad replied and said that he plopped her down in the computer chair…showed her how to use the mouse and she scrolled through the whole thing! LOL What would we do without our precious mothers…
    Blessings~

Oh Alice, how very blessed the both of you are, You and Your Mother, to have eachother! Reading both of your words has brought tears to my eyes today, happy tears I must say! I won’t be visiting my precious Moma today, but I have so much love and many great memories in my heart of her, and I know she knows this! I am spending my Mother’s Day with my daughter and husband and they both have spoiled me terribly today, haha! Enjoy your day!

What a wonderful Mother’s Day post…the music, the photographs, the sentiment. You have truly made your mother proud. You seem like the most wonderful daughter too. I love the photos you shared! Thank you for sharing this.

Your Mom is a wise and wonderful woman. I hope you had a great day. After so many years of infertility, I just snuggled with my 19mo little girl and smelled her hair. She made me a beautiful painted handprint at school. These are the best gifts ever! Hope all is well–Mom & Dad are heading up your way for Memorial Day to visit the family. I hope it’s warm 🙂

    Hi Alice,
All your pictures are a delight to my eyes. The ones of you and your lovely mother are treasures. Speaking as a mother of daughters, there is nothing more special than the friendship that developes between you and a daughter. I know you cherish your mother and she you. Hug her once for me.
Thank you for your lovely comment about my sweet mother.
