Blessed…
I have certainly been feeling very blessed these past few days.
You ladies certainly know how to encourage and show your love…
Every comment {and email} left for me was savored and cherished. I tried getting to many of you to say thanks…but with so many…I got stuck…so now I am still making my way through the list…
But if, somehow, I miss you…just now how blessed I am by your words…
and the knowledge…that I am not alone.
It is amazing how so many of us experience the same feelings…and yet feel so alienated. But I am glad that I put it out there, and received such a positive response.
So thank you…for being you…and sharing your hearts with me 😉
* * * *
And speaking of blessings…I am also blessed to have the love of the most wonderful husband for the last three years.
I don’t know the couple above, but found this photo a few years ago and adore it. It sits on my bedroom vanity. I wonder about this couple…how they met…fell in love…how long did they have each other…did their marriage last?
I hope so…
As some of you may recall, Joshua and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary on October 1st. I had planned on sharing about how we spent the day with you…but you know how life gets sometimes…
The most important thing that we do on our anniversary is to recall the moments we shared when we first met, fell in love, and got engaged ~ and the promises we made to each other on that day back in 2006.
{This is our wedding invitation…it was wrapped in the most beautiful pale green and white toile paper and tied up with a white bow.}
As of yet, we haven’t gotten into the anniversary “gift giving” tradition, but rather try to find something romantic to do together. This year Joshua made the plans. He found out about a Titanic exhibit at a museum in Rochester and decided to take me on the “maiden voyage”…
We received boarding passes when we arrived with information of actual passengers who boarded the Titanic.
I was Annie “Nina” Harper, age 6, traveling with my father and care-giver cousin…
Josh was Annie Funk {both Annies!} traveling alone to visit her dying mother…
And yes, Josh was disappointed that they didn’t discriminate between genders, but Miss Annie Funk it turns out, was a rather extraordinary woman. She was a missionary and opened a school for girls…so if he had to be a woman for a day…I think being her was quite an honor 😉
We could not take photos in the exhibit, but it was filled with artifacts pulled from the sea, replica rooms and ships and information on many of the passengers.
At the end, we were able to go to the wall that listed the survivors…and those who perished.
I noticed quickly that my girl, Miss Annie Harper survived.
Sadly, though, Miss Annie Funk did not.
When I came home I researched both to see if I could find photos or stories about them and I did. You can see and read more about my girl here and Josh’s here.
It is amazing to hear the stories and put photos with them…makes it all the more real for me…
After that we went to our favorite Vietnamese restaurant and enjoyed dinner and talking about out love…
And this is us…three years into our love {taken at my sister’s engagement party last month}…
We are so very, very blessed to have found each other…and to have a love like we do…
And I know that it will last forever.
Till next time…

Oh Alice, “Beautiful” is the only word I can use to describe this post, you and Josh, your love for each other, your anniversary day spent together… everything… your last post, and these last few days have been so poignant to so many people… thank you! Wouldn’t it be wonderful if someone out there recognized the beautiful couple in your old photograph and were relatives of theirs… I love to think that is possible, and you would learn all about them as well… so much love to you… kisses Renoir… Julie Marie

Oh that’s so romantic. Sigh. What a lovely day you and Josh spent together. And I can’t believe you went to a restaurant and “talked about love”.” Wow, I’m almost jealous. I hope you keep this romance and sweetness in your marriage forever! ♥

Alice,
I have the same statue! Huh…my Grandma got it for me for my 1st Communion. 🙂
You certainly struck it rich with your Mr. He’s a romantic…just like you. Glad you had a wonderful time! I’ll have to look up the exhibit and see how long it lasts. I am going to see the “Turner to Cézanne: Masterpieces from the Davies Collection, National Museum Wales” next week at the Everson Museum. Dagas, VanGogh, Monet, Manet, Whistler…can’t wait to see them!

Hi Alice,
congrats on your wedding anniversary! You both look so happy together and visiting “Titanic” must have been very interesting. Thanks for sharing! We have our 3rd wedding anniversary on November 22 and will be in London on this day…
I loved the old wedding picture. You can feel the happiness. Is there any possibility to find out about them, a name on the back of the picture? How exciting this would be… but maybe it’s better to leave things as they are, we would maybe be disappointed…
Love, Chani

You sound perfectly normal to me! I know I have the same thoughts, doubts, and questions at times…..I think every woman does. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Who are the most adorable couple going around? Well it’s you two, of course! Happy Anniversary! What a lovely thing to do, and how tragic about Joshua’s “Annie” not surviving.
I smiled when I saw you like to eat Vietnamese!!! Any of my US friends I have mentioned Vietnamese food to (also one of my fave cuisines!), has not ever tried it!

Alice,
Sounds like you and Joshua had a great anniversary. We went to the Titanic exhibit when it came to Denver. It was very moving, to say the least. I loved your white pumpkin and madonna pictures-you are, indeed, not alone. We are all fellow travelers on this funny road of life. I’m glad to share part of the journey with creative spirits like you!
Have a great week,
Judy
