Thoughts of Fall on My Mind

I don’t know about you, but fall has been on my mind for awhile. It always happens once August hits: I begin dreaming of those beautiful autumn days that are on their way.

We are approaching my favorite time of year, and I can’t help but get excited. I can hold off, of course, on the winter’s cold for quite awhile, but oh, how I wish I could make fall stay longer.

It seems it always comes and goes like a gust of wind…a dance of leaves…and then it is gone. I guess that is why I start dreaming about it early…in hopes that I can make it last as long as possible.

I have some “rituals”, if you will, every fall season. First, I go out and buy the best smelling autumn scented candle that I can find and have it glowing in our kitchen every day. The scent fills up our entire house.

I start getting in the mood to bake pies (especially pecan), breads and comfort food dishes. Instead of my late afternoon coffee, I opt for my favorite Vanilla Caramel Tea (*affiliate link). It tastes, and smells, so divine.

I get in the mood to declutter my home to make room for seasonal decor and lots of pumpkins, gourds, and bits of autumnal nature.

I love that it is a time of year for remembering all that we have to be thankful for. Before the hustle and bustle and scurrying around feeling pressure to spend money on gifts.

It is a time to give thanks to our Savior. To reflect on what has been and look forward to what will be.

As well as a time for family closeness and finding beauty in the simple pleasures of life.

I just picked up all of this beautiful Indian corn at a thrift store recently. Photographing it inspired this post. I can’t wait to include these in my fall decor, although I will try to hold off for a few more weeks.

Yes, I do love this upcoming fall time of year. I think I could stay in it forever, but then I know, its briefness is one of the qualities that makes it so special.

Are you getting in the mood for fall or still basking in the summer sun? When do you decide to start decorating for fall or have you already begun? Look forward to hearing from you.

Till next time…

Oh yes, how I can relate to everything you expressed in this Post! I couldn't hold off, I never can, so we've already begun our Autumn decorating to bring that Favored Autumn Vibe to Life in our Home. There is something about Autumn that I especially Connect to and you've expressed it so eloquently. We come out of hibernation here in the Desert once the weather cools off as Autumn sets in and the Monsoons bring New Life which is evident everywhere after a harsh Desert Summer has been endured. Here's to Experiencing our Favorite time of year in all it's Wonderful and Magnificent Glory! Blessings from the Arizona Desert… Dawn… The Bohemian

Your pictures are dreamy! I'm so excited for fall too. I can hardly wait. The mosquitoes have really made me ready for cooler temperatures.

I am trying not to get too in the mood yet, because my summer has felt wayyy too short. But then today, at work, I was unloading a candle shipment and smelt the fall scents and it kinda put me in the mood! Funny you mentioned finding the right candle! They were WoodWick candles and the "Pumpkin Muffins" and "Pumpkin Strudel" scents are amazing! …Just a thought for when you start your search for the best smelling autumn candle! 😉

I hear you Alice, I so enjoy dreaming of all that fall has to offer….. And let it be winter, another season to be inspired by.

Love all your photos, and the pumpkins in your little ones hands, it's just so sweet through their eyes.

I have been clinging to summer, but your post has inspired me to start thinking about fall. I love that one of the first things you do is bring a fall scent into your home–that really sets the mood. Thanks for sharing!
