A Season of Change

Hello! It has been awhile since I have posted and I have missed the blogging world! If you are a regular, you will notice some changes around here. First of all…”around here” has moved! I finally decided to take the plunge and move to WordPress. Something I have been on the fence about for about four years. One day, I just decided to google articles on how to do it myself and voila…here we are.

Then, I decided to add a few more changes while I was at it, like dropping my former blog name “Thoughts from Alice” and just using my own name: Alice Wingerden. Be sure to note the new web address alicewingerden.com!

If you are curious how to pronounce my last name you basically just sound it out. People are always making it sound more intriguing and complicated than it actually is ๐Ÿ™‚ We get “Winegarden” “Wintergarden” “Winderden”. All sorts of stuff! But it’s simply WING-er-den.ย

I also purchased a theme on WordPress that I really liked, made a new logo and started getting everything all set up. I still have some work to do and am waiting to see if everything with the change goes over smoothly (like making sure my subscribers from the previous site still get my posts in their inbox…it was a little complicated but I am hoping it will work).

So far I am very happy with the change. My sincere hope is that my loyal readers (and new visitors alike!) enjoy the changes as well. I really want you to enjoy this space!

Another “semi” change that is coming to my blog, is the subject matter. Life is so busy right now raising three little ones, that I want to focus on what makes me the most happy because my time for blogging is very limited. My home and interior decorating will always make me happy, but my house is seriously a mess 95% of the time.

I still plan on sharing room reveals, how I decorate for the seasons, home diy projects, etc. when I am able, but what I am most excited to share with you, is my adventures into the miniature world.

I have loved transforming our garage sale dollhouse (which you can find posts about here) and still have lots more work to do on that one.

I have also acquired a few more dollhouses in the past year: two kits that need to be built (one that is the exact same house I had as a child!) and a vintage dollhouse that my neighbors were throwing away. I had to rescue it! Can’t wait to breath new life into this one…

My seven year old, Hazel, is also very anxious to make a fairy house together. We have been saving up natural materials and making lots of plans for that for awhile.

I have had a passion for miniatures since I was a little girl and my hope is to share my love of that with you through tutorials, miniature room reveals, dollhouse makeovers, etc. At least I can keep those rooms picture perfect most of the time! In fact, I think that is one reason, I love dollhouses so much, you can get it all perfect and then just leave it that way. Sigh, wouldn’t that be a dream in real life?ย

If dollhouses and miniature aren’t your thing, and you end up being disappointed in the direction my blog heads, I totally understand, and like I said, I will still share “regular size” interior posts as time allows. I hope, however, that most of you are just as excited as me, and will follow along on my miniature escapades and enjoy these tiny transformations as much as I do. It truly brings me so much joy and I can’t wait to share these projects with you.

So, I know that is a lot of change to drop on you in one post! Let me know what you think about it all! I love hearing from you.

Till next time…
