Choosing Art for the Bedroom

I have partnered with Photowall for this post. All expressed opinions are 100% my own. Full disclosure.

Hey Friends! I hope this July finds you well. Things are still pretty low key here. We have started having a few small family get togethers but are staying home most of the time. Life is sure busy with an almost 9 month old, very spirited three year old and seven and nine year olds! I never know how the day will go. We make the best of staying home and have certainly been enjoying the warm summer weather.

A much needed change these days is that little Fletcher has *finally* learned how to sleep well on his own which gives me some free time during his naps and later evenings. I have not had this in quite awhile! He sure loves his mama and wanted nothing to do with anyone else for most of these beginning months. But he’s sleeping well through the night now and enjoys playing with his dad and siblings more. He doesn’t always “need” me…unless of course he sees me 🙂

But seriously, now when I can get him and Violet to nap at the same time, it’s like a miracle! This has left me a little bit of time to get the house more organized and work on some projects I’ve neglected….like my bedroom that I mentioned in my last post.

Today, I have a quick update to show you with some progress we have made thus far. I was recently able to get my own artwork printed on canvas to add to our bedroom. This is something I have wanted to do for awhile, but never took the time to do it.

Last year, when I was pregnant with Fletcher, I started working once again on art and got back into my favorite: collage – both paper and digital. I made several different pieces in the last couple of years, some of which I have put in my Etsy shop. I knew I wanted one of them displayed in our home and finally decided that the colors in Abstract No. 9 were my favorite and would go well in the bedroom design. This is the print that I chose from my Etsy shop:

I was able to easily upload the full resolution version to Photowall and get it printed on the canvas size of my preference. It literally only took a few days to arrive (all the way from Sweden!).

It arrived with a DIY kit to assemble it to the inner frame, which was explained on the site. There was a very easy to follow YouTube video with directions available on the site that I watched as I assembled it. All together, it only took me about fifteen minutes from start to finish.

The quality was amazing, and I was so thrilled to see my artwork printed on canvas like this! We immediately hung it up in the bedroom and it has already started to personalize the space and add more character and life to our room. There is still more to do in here, but we have come a long way from when we first moved in.

I love how the textures show on the canvas and the colors are rich and warm. Having this piece makes me want to get more artwork and photographs printed on canvas. I don’t know why I have always been so hesitant to display my own artwork around our home, but seeing this piece makes me happy. It helped give me the confidence to add more of my own work to our home.

The Photowall site has so many cool products besides just canvas prints including wall murals, wallpaper, framed prints and posters. They have many different designs to look through, or you can do like I did and upload your own.
