Spooky Fun Halloween Village Display

My kids have been counting down the days until they get to dress up and go trick-or-treating. They simply can’t wait! But with a couple of days left, I figure I still have some time to show you a little bit more from our home decorated for Halloween. I gave a little tour last week and mentioned a super fun (and little bit spooky) Halloween village that we put together. We named it “Spooky Street,” and today I’m going to show you all the details!

I only had one house to start with for this village so we had kind of an uphill climb to make it all come together.

I started by asking Hazel and Owen to find anything they could that would work in a Halloween village. And let me tell you, they had a lot of ideas! You will find many of them throughout the display. I love the way little minds work and love to let them take the lead.

The center black glitter house was the first one we had. (My mom found it somewhere on sale). I covered the buffet in black “creepy cloth” and then put that house in the center. And since villages need lights, I added a strand of regular white Christmas lights along the back mixed with black and silver tinsel garland.

I also transformed a small house I picked up a the Goodwill with some black paint, glitter and orange crepe paper. I added some cute little pumpkins by drawing on a couple of orange beads and adding a stem and leaf to each. Owen added his Minecraft Lego guys…and I have to say…they really seemed to fit.

It became the second house on Spooky Street. We were getting there!

Well, I came home with one more house and lots of little miniatures to add to our display including a mailbox, little blue truck carting pumpkins, wheat stalks, wooden sign display, bottle brush trees in orange, green and purple, and “Spooky” street sign…thus the name 🙂 I definitely could have gone even crazier shopping at JoAnn’s that day, but I tried to restrain myself as best I could!

But seriously, how fun are all these little details?

It’s like a party all the time around Spooky Street with the band ready to play!

He was very proud of it! He also said Murry from Hotel Transylvania should join in the fun.

We had a couple of fall miniatures from the dollhouse that we included as well, including a small scarecrow, jack-o-lantern and little ghost.Spooky Fun Halloween VillageSpooky Fun Halloween VillageWe were all excited with the outcome when it was finished and have been having fun with it ever since. Sometimes I find things rearranged like the Minecraft Legos missing their heads or popping up from the chimneys. Sometimes the rubber skeleton (shown inside the little black house) is hanging upside down from the wire tree with his arms crossed and the little blue truck must drive around at night because it’s never in the same spot.Whimsical Halloween Village DisplayIt will probably become a Halloween tradition for us now that will continue to add on to year after year. These are definitely the things I hope my little ones look back on and remember fondly when they are grown. Sometimes, I really do wish I could keep them small forever….I know these are the good old days 🙂

Till next time…Happy Halloween!
