Vintage Valentine’s Day Mantel {blog rewind}
Happy February! With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, I wanted to share an oldie but a goody (at least in my humble opinion!). We are going back to 2014 when I decorated our vintage mantel for the holiday of love. I didn’t buy anything new for this vintage inspired mantel vignette. I simply shopped my home and thought outside of the box.
Back to Blogging
Illness has been rampant in our home for the past few months. We’ve had the flu, stomach viruses and lots of colds pass through. Even poor little Fletcher caught RSV just before he turned three months. It has been a rough winter. I hope the groundhog was right and spring is just around the corner! I need some relief.
In spite of all that has been going on, I have felt the urge to get back to my creative outlets that nourish my soul. One being this blog. I do very much enjoy putting posts together for you and hope you enjoy them just as much.
I’m still getting my bearings since having four kids, so the house is a bit topsy turvy right now. Laundry has taken up permanent residence in our living room, which has also turned into baby central. Most of my prime decorating surfaces are currently filled with papers, kids’ artwork, nerf gun pellets, syrup spills and kinetic sand.
So with all that being said, I won’t always have a ton of new content to share. Instead, I thought I would take you on a time machine, once in awhile, to see how I did things years ago. Some of you may have seen these, but many new folks might not have.
Blog Rewind: Valentine’s Day Mantel 2014
I’m starting with this vintage inspired Valentine’s mantel I decorated in our previous home, since it’s still one of my favorites. You can read the original post for all of the details, but I reedited the photos because, well… I kind of cringe every time I see the large watermark across the bottom.
This mantel vignette was filled with a variety of my vintage collections including old books, wooden thread spools and antique glass bottles. I grouped similar items together in shades shades reminiscent of Valentine’s Day: red, white, cream and pink.
Even though these days I prefer a simpler look without much clutter (I guess having kids will do that to you), I still enjoy looking back on this vignette. Something about it just makes me happy.
I hope you have a very loving Valentine’s Day and that you enjoyed this rewind to see how I did up that old mantel. Please
visit again soon! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Till next time…
