• where have I been & giving thanks

Where have I been? It seems like forever since I have posted here. Well, let me tell you…an almost 2 1/2 year old and a fourteen month old sure can keep you busy. I have been busy keeping up with our home, caring for my little ones, and learning to trust and rely on the Lord no matter what life throws my way. Some days are harder than others. I struggle. I want to do more. I want to create. I want to blog. I want to photograph. I want more “me time.” And then I hear it…”I want” “I want” “I want”.  But God has been revealing to me…

  • it’s the little things

Some days can start off feeling like raising kids just takes, takes, takes. Takes your time, your patience, your energy, your everything… But in the littlest of moments I am quickly brought back to all that they have to give. Like the sweet smile that came over Owen’s face when he saw a rushing river for the first time recently. {we were on a walk…just the two of us} And like the moments today…when we ate lunch outside and Hazel wandered freely in the yard. She picked a leaf and brought it back saying gently, “Mama.” It was for me. Then there was another, and a little twig. a weed.…

  • Dyed Coffee Filter Floral Bouquet

For Mother’s Day, Hazel and I put together some simple “flowers” to give to all of the women we would be visiting that day (including two grandma’s and three aunts). A couple of years ago I was making a lot of projects using dyed coffee filters (there are a plethora of tutorials out there about them now, but I thought I would share this one anyway!). I wrote an article featured in Somerset Life on how to make a pomander ball using them. I had made so many back then, that I decided to make these single flowers with the left overs. This project was pretty easy for me because…

  • Mother’s Day

It’s been raining here for several days…so we brought some spring indoors last week. Hazel loves “flowders” as she calls them… These came from a beautiful tree in our backyard. Wishing you all a beautiful Mother’s Day! I am so grateful for my own mother, Janine, and all of the help that she offers me with Hazel and Owen. They love spending time with her. I am also very blessed by my mother-in-law, Cindy, who loves my children dearly and raised one heck of a guy… Till next time, ~Alice W.

  • growing up fast…(myself included)

My little babies are growing up faster than I can believe. Every day they seem to change a little. It is a joy to watch them grow and learn. But also a little sad as each stage passes, and I know that it will be gone forever. I am striving to enjoy each moment…(even through the temper tantrums, food thrown on the floor, waking up several times at night, painful teething stages, piles of laundry, spit up and endless amounts of dirty diapers.). I am made all the more aware each day that this precious time will be gone before I know it… Last week I did an impromptu “photo…

  • Our Baby Boy is Here!

Owen Henry Wingerden arrived on September 26th, 2012 at 10:32 am. A whopping 8 lbs. 0.3 oz. and 19 1/2″ long! I never thought I would have a baby that big 🙂 Labor was fast…only 4 1/2 hours total after my water broke around 6am. I was getting really worried he was going to end up being born in the car! Thankfully we made it just in time as I was fully dilated. It was pretty surreal to go through a “normal” time afterwards where I could hold my baby and have him stay with me in the room. And then the best part…going home with him two days later.…
