Our Baby Boy is Here!

Owen Henry Wingerden arrived on September 26th, 2012 at 10:32 am.

A whopping 8 lbs. 0.3 oz. and 19 1/2″ long! I never thought I would have a baby that big 🙂

Labor was fast…only 4 1/2 hours total after my water broke around 6am. I was getting really worried he was going to end up being born in the car! Thankfully we made it just in time as I was fully dilated.
It was pretty surreal to go through a “normal” time afterwards where I could hold my baby and have him stay with me in the room.

And then the best part…going home with him two days later.

Hazel has adjusted very well to being a big sister as have I to having two under two. I am very grateful for the help of my mother who comes regularly to give me a hand. It really has made all the difference in making the transition.

Life is really good these days…no post partum this time! I took the initiative to start treatment early, but also have been very blessed with a completely different experience this time. To see how motherhood really can be…and that it can be wonderful to bring home a newborn.

I am completely in love with my little man!

    He really looks like his daddy! I didn't think I could love anyone as much as I love my daughters but I know differently now, I love my grandchildren just as deeply as I do you and your sister. I'm so proud of you, as a mom and a daughter, you are amazing!!

    Oh angel…I'm so very glad your little man arrived at a much later time that precious Hazel! Each child is so different…the birth AND the child's personality ~ each one is such a treasure to get to know and learn.
    I, too, had children close in age and let me tell you this Alice…they are now 30, 28 and 26 and LOVE each other so much! Plus the 21 and 15 year old are so close as well. All the boys love one another and look out for each other. This has been the most wonderful gift to me and their dad, that they love one another.

    Very sincerely joyous it was a different go around this time. One of my favorite things I read was…..you prepared yourself ahead of time. You learned from your experience, which is such a gift to give yourself and others. Beautiful children with a beautiful mother…. AND….thank you for publicly thanking YoUr mother for her help. As a mother yourself, you know how she feels about you! 🙂

    Oh Alice, I can't tell you how happy I am for you. You have been on my mind and heart for quite some time. I am so thrilled that your family has been so blessed.     So, So, So very wonderful! I'm so thankful to hear no PPD & a full term delivery! What answers to prayers! This mommy thing turns you into a warrior even in it's best circumstances- so with all that you've been through I would venture to say you are one strong woman! With the Lord's grace holding you up!
