Where This Blogger Creates…
When the very lovely Karen Valentine invited me to join her Where Blogger’s Create party, I jumped at the chance, and took it as an opportunity to finally have the motivation I needed to get my studio cleaned up and organized. We have lived in this home for almost two years now…and this studio has acted more as a storage room than space to work.
But no longer…
Now it is a haven to create in…filled with inspiration and beautiful things that I have collected through the years. Albeit…it is a cluttered space…now perhaps ‘chaotically’ organized…but everything has a place. And that’s how I like it…
So I will try to keep the talking brief and allow you to enjoy the photos shared here…{and there are a lot! I apologize if it is overwhelming or makes your computer run slow for those on dial up….hope you will forgive me for gushingly showing off my creative space!}…
Enter Alice’s atelier…
{oh yeah and St Joshua’s too…he has a little spot carved out, just his own, under these shelves}
A petite chandelier decorated with sheet music…
An old window hangs from the ceiling and holds dried flowers, an old basket and a vintage baby dress…
With my work table below…{and Joshua’s in the background}…
Vintage seam binding and bias tape packages are stored in a lacy vintage shoe holder…
A wicker Lazy Susan hold paint brushes and other treasures…
Some favorite old books…
Now where do I spend the most time?
In what we have dubbed the “computer alcove” {a converted closet with removed doors}…
This is where I sit and write to you…
A clothesline of old cabinet cards and white gloves are displayed in front of the curtains…
Joshua built small shelves on the inside for office storage…and I dressed them up a bit 😉
My inspiration board…
All of the walls in the studio are covered in burlap…
The door to enter the studio is on the far left of this wall….which also has an old door displayed on it, vintage shelves and lots of old treasures…
My ever growing collection of vintage lace…
I use a lot of glass jars to store treasures such as these old typewriter keys…
A wall shelf filled with stamps…
and old French printing blocks…
An old cashier’s drawer filled with white buttons…
And in the corner…
A shelving unit covered in vintage wallpaper is filled with lace trim and fabric…
Well…there is so much more to share…including the far wall which has 3 longs shelves filled with some of my prettiest things…..but…I think I shall wait and share it in the coming days so as not to overwhelm you too much here! So for those of you who are new to my blog today, I do hope you will come back to see the rest…I think you will enjoy it…
But…before I go…I will share someone else’s favorite spot in here…{under the window perpendicular to my computer desk and right next to Joshua’s}…
A ‘cat’….err…’Renoir’ perch sits under the window…the perfect spot for my little guy to enjoy the view…

I love the space your create in and all the wonderful details you have so lovingly attended to! This is such a romantic and peaceful room, just like the rest of your home. Oh, I have been sharing these photos with my husband (I have shown him your beautiful home before) he loves it as much as I do, and tells me I am getting so excited over all your pretty vignettes! He smiled so lovingly as he said it! I get so much inspiration from you! I have been adding more white and creams to my home. I love how you used the vintage purses to store old books and papers in, and the tiered metal stand is perfect for your collection of vintage laces. The glass jars are fabulous and I see the beautiful blessed banner dear, sweet Madai made. I love every single detail and vignette. You have some fabulous pieces of furniture and other pretties! I thought it was so creative to put your computer in the closet and remove the doors. The lace, gloves and cabinet cards you hung above it are all so beautiful, and I love your inspiration board, too. I love everything you have done!
The vintage card has one of my favorite verses on it… Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. I can see you do just that. What a lovely space you have to work in! Everything is ever so pretty, it must be nice even to just sit in there. You’ve given me an idea too … that three-tiered wire “basket” filled with lace? I have one exactly like that and have lately been thinking about getting rid of it. It sat in my kitchen and held fruit but since I’m not using it for that now, I was going to toss it out. Not any longer. I love how yours looks filled with the lace. I think mine is going to be used like that too.

My problem is I have two studios, one in the back of my shop and the one at home. Most of my stuff is at the shop because I am there more than I am at home. I could have shot that but I could only clean one studio at a time–big job.
I also put up a slide show because for some stupid (meaning my computer skills) reason the pictures didn’t enlarge…

Hi Alice! Oops, I posted my comment about your studio in the wrong place. Oh well, here goes: I’ve so much enjoyed visiting your studio. You’ve even given me a few ideas for mine! I have a lovely old window frame without the glass, and I’ve been trying to decide what to do with it. You know what they say about space: when you run out of it on the ground, go up. Now I know what to do with my window frame. Also, I use a lot of vintage laces too. I’ve had this two-tiered plate holder forever. It will make the perfect place for some of my goodies! I am also a lover of burlap and it’s ability to drape or cover whatever! I like that you used lights in conjuction with the burlap in your space. However, since it’s such a natural fabric, I have always been hesitant to put the two together. What do you think? Do you leave the lights on for long?

I do leave them on for awhile…but not all day long. Usually put them on the evening and till I go to bed at night..and have never had any problems with it…
