• Vintage Camera Fall Tablescape

    Back in October of 2010, I shared a post about a table setting that I did for our 4th wedding anniversary. Since, we are hosting Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow, I am busy getting my house cleaned up, so I don’t have any new content to share just yet. I thought it would be fun to pull these photos from the archives to share with you today. I can’t believe this post is now seven years old. Or that I have been blogging since 2006. Crazy! It never transferred when I made the switch from Typepad to Blogger so many of my new followers probably haven’t seen it. I reedited the photos…

  • Packing Up a House Full of Memories

    I knew it would feel like the blink of an eye and the time to move would be here. And now it has arrived. We officially moved out of our home this week and the new owner was given the keys yesterday. I was feeling all sorts of emotions as we went through this process and our home got emptier and emptier. We are currently housesitting for my cousin as we have waited for the closing day on our new home. We finally get to move in this weekend! Since my desktop computer is packed away, I only have access to our laptop and previous blog photos, so today I…

  • The End of Summer and New Beginnings

    This summer seems to have flown by. I am sure I think that every summer, but this time, I am sending two kids off to school, so it seems even more monumental. Hazel heads to full day kindergarten (and riding the bus!) and Owen heads to half day Pre-K. I know they are both more than ready and will do and learn amazing things, but I am a bit sad this precious time home during the day with them is coming to an end of sorts. Of course, we will be adding a new member to our family this fall and will start the whole process over again, which I…

  • Goodbye Summer

    Summer is almost over, and I am sad to see it go. But then…fall is my favorite, so I am definitely ready to sink right into it. Here is one last hoorah to summer with some random shots I captured these past few months and a look back on some of our adventures. Overall, it was a busy, but relaxing summer. We were able to get away, spend time with extended family and most of all spend time with each other. With Hazel turning four and Owen on the verge of turning three, it feels like these little years a slipping right through my hands. Before I know it Hazel…

  • Trip to the Adirondacks

    Last week, we had the pleasure of going to the Adirondacks for a few days. It was the first time my husband and I had been there. We went with my mom, step-dad and uncle who had all been before. When my mom and uncle were little, my grandparents would take them up there since it was where my grandmother grew up. That made it even more special since both of my grandparents passed away earlier this year. It almost felt as if they were with us. Their memory definitely was. We stayed in a beautiful log cabin, which I will be sharing a full home tour of…in installments over…

  • Moments in Real Life No. 2 {a photography challenge}

    Last week, I began a new series called “Moments in Real Life.” This series is all about using your camera to find beauty in the every day all around you. Not staging the scene, but looking deeply at the one in front of you, to see if you could find a moment worth remembering. Something beautiful in it. Something real. Since my life is pretty deep down in the real these days, I thought I would pop in here and share round two already and challenge you to join me… I encourage you to start your own journey if you are a person like me, who struggles with comparison from time to…
