• Hazel’s Wolf Birthday Party

    At the end of June, my sweet daughter Hazel turned five. Her favorite animal is the wolf, so for months she had been telling me she wanted to have a wolf themed birthday party. I knew it would be a tricky one planning and finding decorations for, but I was up for the challenge! Even though this party happened months ago, I still wanted to share how we celebrated here with you. Better late than never right? (I’m pretty sure I say that about all of my kids’ birthday party posts!) This post contains affiliate links. I may receive a small commission for any sales made through them. Thanks for…

  • Hazel’s Frozen 4th Birthday Party

    I seriously never thought I would do character parties for my kids, but as they have gotten older and have their own interests, it would be pretty hard not to, right? So the challenge for me then? Still make it as creative and unique as possible, while keeping with the theme they love. For Hazel’s fourth this year, she knew for months what kind of party she wanted. A Frozen party. And not just any Frozen party: an Elsa party. I guess I just had to let it go about my hopes and dreams that she would choose a unicorn party (her second choice), and go with the flow of the…

  • Hazel’s Sheriff Callie Inspired Cowgirl Birthday Party

    My daughter Hazel is coming up on her fourth birthday (hard to believe!) and if there is one thing I am terrible at as a blogger, it is getting my kids’ birthday posts up around their actual birthday. Today, I am finally sharing Hazel’s third birthday party which was a Sheriff Callie inspired cowgirl theme. Even though this post is near a year late, I hope you enjoy seeing how we celebrated and get some inspiration if you are planning a similar party soon! When we were deciding on a theme, Hazel kept coming back to Sheriff Callie, an adorable show on Disney Junior that we would watch from time…

  • Hazel’s Vintage Nursery {a look back}

    I am excited to share with you the second in my {a look back} series, where I am sharing snippets from life when I was away from blogging. One thing that I never got around to sharing during that time, was Hazel’s nursery, so I am going to now! I had so many hopes and dreams for this room before she was born. Lots of plans were made and vintage items collected just for this special space that I wanted to create for my first child. I knew I wanted it to be cream and white with neutral, vintage touches throughout. When she was born at 31 weeks, and then…

  • Hazel’s Beginning

    On June 30th, 2011 our lives changed forever when tiny, Hazel Mae Wingerden, entered the world. She was born 8 1/2 weeks early due to spontaneous preterm labor that couldn't be stopped. It was the scariest time of my life, up until that point, since she was so small and seemingly fragile, at 3 lbs. 10 oz. and 16" long. We had been warned, the week before, that if she were born, she would need to spend considerable time in the NICU… likely up until her actual due date of August 30th. And so our NICU days began. I would drive a half an hour there and back and spend…

  • Hazel’s First Easter

    Hazel enjoyed her first Easter! We attended church and then spent the afternoon with family. Hazel was, of course, the favorite guest. We hope that you enjoyed a wonderful Easter as well 🙂 Till next time…
