• Kitchen Progress {Thus Far}

    My husband has been hard at work transforming our kitchen. If you missed my first Before Post, go check that out to see what we started with. Here is the progress so far… My husband lowered most of the cabinets (they were way too high and hard to reach). He left the ones above the microwave as is, and added trim underneath to frame it and have it line up with the lowered cupboards on either side. We decided to leave the corner one raised up and are going to come up with something creative to do underneath to make it work with the rest. Josh has been deglossing, painting…

  • Vignette Details from the Living Room

    Earlier this week, I shared our living room and entryway area reveals on my blog. Here are a few extra shots from some of my vignettes and details from the room. This old scale is the first one I ever purchased and is still my favorite. Since then I have acquired quite a collection. The cast iron rabbit was a gift from my mother, and when I don’t have it out for spring decor, it’s displayed in the kids’ room. The enamel pitcher is new (vintage inspired). At some point I want to purchase an old white enamel pitcher, but until then this works. The clock face, I literally took out…

  • Spring 2014 {Partial} Living Room Reveal

    As promised, I am sharing my living room reveal!  You will notice in the title this is only a “partial” reveal. I still have some work to do on our gallery wall with the flat screen and will reveal that as soon as it is done. There are also many things in this room that I hope to do in the future, but I decided I won’t hold out any longer on sharing a room tour.  So here we go! I was actually able to get this room cleaned up and photographed while both kids napped (a miracle!). I will try to explain the pieces in here and what we…

  • Vintage Sugar Bag Pillow

    I always have a long list of projects to work on for my home. (Don’t we all?) One that I have sadly had on my list for several years, is to turn some old sugar bags into pillows. Well, this week I finally made one of them! I thought I would pop in here to share it with you. Before this, I had it wrapped around a pillow with safety pins but didn’t have it on the couch or chairs much. Kinda tacky I know 😉 It was super easy to make into a pillow cover. I made it into an envelope style so that I could easily take it…

  • Vintage Book Collection {and a decorating fail}

    Do you ever have an idea that you think is going to be really great only to get it completed (or almost) and realize: not gonna work. Well, that happened to me last week, but I thought I would share it with you anyways just for fun. It all started with my collection of vintage books. I have a small board on Pinterest called “library” with inspiring displays of books. I enjoy when they are randomly and haphazardly arranged. I have quite a hefty collection and they are strewn about my house in various locations. A bunch of them have been cluttering up my dining room for the past two months since…
