Wild Violet

It’s been awhile since I have gotten out my canon camera to take some portraits of the little two, but lately I have been challenging myself to get it out more and more. Most of the photos of Violet and Fletcher stay on my phone and are just snapshots of whatever funny, cute, crazy things they do during the day. Last week, I asked Violet if she would pose for some “real” camera photographs for me and after some coaxing, she agreed.

Violet is worlds apart from my first two, Hazel and Owen. She definitely puts the sass in sassy! She is very opinionated and strong willed. Recently she stopped liking all things pink and purple and told me her new favorite colors are green and blue. She already wants to repaint her bedroom (from the muted shade of mauve I chose a few years ago). And just yesterday she told me when she grows up she is going to wear black lipstick. She sure has a big personality for such a little person!

But in spite of her sassiness and extremely strong will, she has the softest, gentlest spirit and gives the loveliest hugs and cuddles. She wraps her arms around me and says “I love you Mama” several times a day. And she LOVES helping “watch” and care for her baby brother. She is always looking out for him (as long as he’s not getting into something that she wants or ruining something she is working on…then we have some major sibling rivalry going on). She runs to tell me when he’s “up to mischief”, which is pretty often.

She has no problem telling me when she’s done with something!

“That’s enough Mom. No more pictures.”

It’s hard to believe she will be turning five in November. Seems like she was just this wee little baby and then I blinked and here we are. She will be heading off to full day kindergarten next fall, and can’t wait to make friends, get a backpack and ride the bus. I’m sure going to miss having her as my little sidekick every day but I can’t wait to see how she grows, learns and blooms during that new season of life.

I’ll share some of my portraits of little Fletcher soon, who is actually not so little anymore! He will be my new little sidekick when the other three are off to school every day next fall!

I took these photographs with my Canon 5D Mark III with my 35mm lens

I edited them in Adobe Camera Raw with presets from this set that I recently purchased on Etsy.

Till next time..
