October Mood – A Poetic Fall Photoshoot

October is one of my favorite months. When the leaves are showing their beautiful fall foliage, with a crispness in the air and warmth and coziness indoors. I just love this time of year.

Recently, my ten year old daughter, Hazel, has taken a strong interest in doing photoshoots with me. She loves to take her own photographs but still loves being my muse even after all these years.

Last week, we decided to do a little artistic spooky-ish Halloween session. We grabbed some props: candles, a white pumpkin and old books, including The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and an antique copy of the Magic Casements, a poetry book with Edgar Allan Poe’s work inside.

Hazel offered lots of her own ideas for the photos and together we came up with some fun shots for getting in an October mood!

Here are the results of our collaborative effort…

These shots were taken in the evening in natural light. They were edited in Photoshop Camera Raw with the photo filter “Basque” from the Film Noir set by PHLEARNDesign on Etsy.

I hope to take some pics of the Halloween decorations around the house soon. I am hoping to share them early next week. Only time will tell if that happens. Life is still pretty busy even with three kiddos off to school during the day. I spend most of my day chasing Fletcher around while he strives to get into all the mischief he can. That’s a full time job in and of itself!

Hope you are enjoying a lovely October thus far. Thanks for visiting!
